The Equine Heritage Institute

The Equine Heritage Institute's mission is to educate, celebrate and preserve the history of the horse and its role in shaping world civilizations and changing lives.

The Florida Carriage Museum & Resort and the Equine Heritage Institute are dedicated to a common mission. Many call it a passion: To educate, celebrate and preserve the history of the horse and its role in shaping world civilizations and changing lives.

That’s what we are about. And that is what we do. Founded in 1995 by entrepreneur and philanthropist, Gloria Austin, The Florida Carriage Museum & Resort is a carriage museum, driving and education center, equine resort and home to the Equine Heritage Institute.

Located within miles of Ocala, the Horse Capital of the World, the Florida Carriage Museum & Resort encompasses over 400 acres of Central Florida. It is within easy driving distance of the Orlando attractions, the glass-bottom boats of Silver Springs and more.

Come take a horse and carriage ride. See one of the finest collections of antique and modern carriages in the world. Learn the fascinating history of the many ways the horse has served mankind in the development of world civilizations.

We know you will enjoy the experience. We hope you will join us in preserving and perpetuating this incredible history.
