Tea: Steeped in Tradition
The most popular legend about the origin of tea comes from Shen Nung, a Chinese emperor of divine healing. He observed those who boiled their water experienced better health. In 2737 BC, the Emperor servant was boiling water when leaves form the Camellia Sinensis bush blew into the bubbling water. The emperor was so pleased by the aroma and flavor, the tea drinking tradition was founded. In Chinese legend, Shen Nung died in Tea Hill (Cha Lin) county of Hunan province.
