The Chariot

An overview of one of the greatest weapons of warfare, entertainment and culture and its lasting effects on our society. The chariot allowed broader military operations as a result of increased mobility. The chariot then became the nucleus for campaigning armies which in turn increased a rulers standing. The horse and chariot quickly became associated with power, prestige and nobility.

Gloria Austin presents a lovely and educational lecture on this topic, however, if you’d like to know more about making chariots you may enjoy the NOVA special on Building Pharoah’s Chariot.

Watch Building Pharaoh’s Chariot on PBS. See more from NOVA.
