The Unsung Heroes of World War I
A look at the pivotal role horses and mules played in the arena of World War I. There were over 1 million cavalry horses on all the fronts but machine guns and trenches rendered cavalry techniques ineffective. During the Battle of Moreuil Woods in 1918, 150 horses of the Canadian Cavalry charged 100 Germans, only 4 horses survived.
